People often laugh when they see television shows like Maury where men get excited after they find out that they are not the father. However, paternity fraud is no laughing matter. It is estimated that 250,000 men in America are fathering a child that is not biologically theirs.

Many men are heartbroken to find out that they are not the biological father of their child. Some of them have spent years loving and caring for their child. The really sad thing about paternity father is that a man may still be required to finance the child’s life even after he finds out that he is not the father. Paternity fraud is essentially a crime, and it happens a lot more than many people realize. Michael Jordan and Neyo are two of the celebrities who have been caught up in paternity fraud.

There was a poll taken recently where people were asked whether paternity fraud should be considered a crime. A whopping 92 percent of the people who voted believed that paternity fraud should be considered a crime. Three percent of the people said no, and five percent were not sure about how they felt.

Hospitals have put these practices into place for safety and health reasons. Many people believe that it would not be unethical for a doctor to perform a paternity test at birth also. Others feel that this type of testing will interfere with a mother’s reproductive rights.

However, it is important to consider that paternity testing that is performed at birth can protect the rights of the men. Paternity fraud can be result in financial and mental torment. The government has the responsibility of protecting the rights of every citizen, which is one of the reasons that people believe that paternity testing at birth should be put into place

Even though mandatory paternity test has been suggested by many, it will most likely be a very long time before it is actually put into place. There are no stigmas associated with testing blood for deformities or disease. Many are hoping that there will no longer be a stigma associated with taking a paternity test. After all, this very simple test can help prevent a lot of broken hearts and protect men from financial ruin.
