Win The Battle Against The Evil Bathroom Scale
"When people stop losing weight, it's usually because they are making some simple mistakes that can be avoided. "
You can see him glaring at you from across the room, all smug with his black case and red numbers. You walk over to him, vowing to take him down this time. You drop your robe so he won’t be able to say you weigh any more than you actually do and you step right on top of him. You can’t believe what you see. That red number is actually higher than it was last week! It’s true. That evil nemesis who goes by the street name “Bathroom Scale” has won once again. Now it’s time to figure out why he keeps coming out on top.
Your Body is Bored
You might be holding steady at your current weight because your body is bored. Are you doing the same exercises day in and day out? When you do that, your body will actually adapt so it will use less energy. That means it will burn fewer calories. The best way to fix this problem is to change up your routine. Try something different. It will push you past the stagnation and let you start seeing some results on the scale. That will take you one step closer to winning your battle against your evil nemesis.
You Aren’t Doing Cardio and Strength Training
Even if you mix up your routine, you will still end up at a standstill unless you rotate between cardio and strength training exercises. You need to spend most of your time doing cardio, but you should dedicate at least two days a week to strength training. If you don’t do that, you might have a hard time shredding that extra weight. That will definitely put you at a disadvantage when you try to squeeze into those jeans.
You Think About Exercising Too Much
Thinking about exercising too much can actually cause you to overeat. Basically, when people spend all day thinking about how they are going to exercise that evening, they eat extra because they figure they’ll burn the calories off anyway. Stay in the moment. Think about the workout when you’re there, and think about healthy food when you’re at home.
You Aren’t Getting Your Heart Rate Up
Lots of people think they are pushing themselves, even though they are barely getting their heart rates up. You want to stay in the fat burning zone or the aerobic zone. If you can get up to 60-70% of your maximum heart rate, you’ll be in the fat burning zone. The aerobic zone is 70-80% of your maximum heart rate. You can use a heart rate monitor to gauge your rate, or you can look for some signs.
For instance, if you’re in the fat burning zone, you’ll experience heavy breathing. You will have to use short sentences to communicate. If you’re in the aerobic zone, you will start breathing really hard and talking will be difficult. You will have to communicate in short phrases.
Your “Healthy” Diet isn’t Healthy at All
If you are opening packages to prepare your meals, you’re not eating as healthy as you think you are. You’re taking in a lot of additives and preservatives, which can cause your weight loss to stall. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, nuts and whole wheat. Your body will thank you and so will your waistline. Your scale will even have to give in and admit that you’re losing weight.
It’s time to take that evil scale down once and for all. Follow these tips so you can win your showdown and finally prove that you’re in control of your body. The scale doesn’t lie, and the truth will definitely be on your side once you follow these tips.
